I am surprised that Ottawa is not on the list. It is considered a very safe city with good jobs and a relatively high average income, and much more affordable than Toronto or Vancouver. It has lots of green space, as well as plenty of arts and other activities stemming from being the national capital. All it really misses is Vancouver’s weather and mountains (although Gatineau Park satisfies most people’s mountains aspirations).
I live park-way between Ottawa, Cornwall and Brockville, and just a couple hours from Montreal. My kids are both just outside Toronto. If I ever found I had to move to a city, it would hopefully be Montreal. Bilingual. Multicultural. Cosmopolitain. Hopping with the arts and featuring a mountain right in the middle of it!
