There was a crucial difference: in 1940, there was no social media, not everybody had a TV set, not even a radio, so it was much more difficult to achieve the results that were achieved in 2016.
You mean like when Putin used his mind control helmet to keep Clinton from campaigning even once in Wisconsin?
Not talking about mind control on a single person but about altering millions of people's perception so they form an opinion based on what they have been feed, rather than freely electing their representatives based on their political program.
