Could the answer to why "we" are addicted to TV is that people work hard, often struggle to do things daily and at some point just want to sit their butts down and use TV for a bit of escapism?
I think this explains how the TV producers and execs drive towards success. Not sure it really explains why people watch so much TV.
I agree, that's basically when I watch TV.
I've always loved quality TV shows more than movies simply because I grow more attached to the characters and the "fun" doesn't end after two hours. It's an emotional investment in a way and it's much more satisfying.
