Well bloody hell. I stay away from here, and Reddit due to being busy in that real life place. Then upon returning the shit has really hit the fan.

The more subreddits that protest, then the more media coverage Reddit gets. A trending topic on Twitter is just going to make more traffic Reddits way. The longer this continues without official word on what has happened, and the plan for the future then the more people try to second guess and post bizarre theories. More posts, more traffic. Yes plenty are leaving the sinking ship, but many, many love some drama.

Also Reddit has changed as its admins are so out of touch with the community. They don't join in so as a result don't know what makes it tick. When was the last time you saw a post about a new hire on the Reddit team and they actually interacted with the community? Plus new hires are not webdevs or software engineers. They are middle management, with backgrounds in advertising, or marketing. It's all bloat with only one aim to make money from Reddit regardless of who gets hurt. It is beginning to sound very similar to what happened at Digg v4 now. This all started to happen around the time they moved away from their New York office, and if I recall correctly wasn’t there some problem about people being forced to move or resign?

A simple way to solve this issue would be to hire a few people from within the Reddit community, some with software and website experience. But is there any talent left? Plus would the current people in charge listen?

I keep wanting to refer to users here as Snappers, but that's a fish. I am sure none of you look like this.

So what is the correct term for us?

That is cringe worthy, and most lads give it loads of talk but they would cringe if it happened to them. A mate of mine accidentally walked in on our female gym teacher when she just had a towel wrapped around her. She would have been classed as a MILF if the term had been invented back then. But he was seen as a hero for at least a couple of months. He was sick of the comments.

    Always up for a coffee.

Is there no way to have /t/lounge display links to both /t/cafe and /t/asksnapzu at the top of the page? Like some sticky?

From reading the welcome message when joining I always got the impression that /t/lounge was the welcoming committee. I have since gone on to see /t/cafe as light hearted chat, or dare I use that word 'banter'. Then /t/asksnapzu as more ask about the finer points of this website, and its workings. But that’s just my view.

Any online community will have issues. No such website is perfect and the size of the those issues will alter, mostly depending on size of the user base. Also any society will have bad people, its just life we are all different. Plus sometimes the word bad, or terrible can be subjective, or just used to describe people that don't fit into your own philosophy.

The fact is hate, bigots, and such like do exist in real life. So why shouldn't they exist online as well? They often feel like the online world can provide a platform for their views. Then they come together with other like-minded people that justify these views. In real life they know they have to turn-down or tame their views to fit into society. So is the online world a real measure of how a country may be doomed? No, because the user base of Reddit is worldwide for starters. Yes a majority might be American, but as I said previously it's also people just shouting their mouth off because they can.

The bigger issue is the way the people in power are acting. We are building societies that are sweeping unpopular things underground by banning them, making them illegal in order to pretend they don't exist. Its been going on your years but more obvious now. It was made very clear how hypocritical governments are when many world leaders met in Paris during the Charlie Hebdo march. They all said how much they want to protect free speech whilst posing for pictures as a PR stunt, but soon as it was over they started making laws and persuading others that the only free speech they were keen on was protecting things they agree with. David Cameron was an ideal example as the minute he arrived back he started talking about banning certain content on the web, banning encryption, harvesting more data, etc... all was done using the keywords paedophile and terrorism. When in reality its eroding freedom of speech and expression. So seeing governments act in such a way, and doing it for so long it's not surprising other...

    I should start I guess?

I was living in the centre of a busy city. it might have been called Brighton. Some twat kept throwing little stones at my window during the night. They kept ringing the door bell and running away. Just stupid annoying things. This night I was a little drunk, and I might have been entertaining a lady friend. It was about 4am and a stone hit the window. Me wanting to show how manly I was. I was young and foolish. I raced downstairs to the front door. Swung the door open trying to look mean, moody, and menacing. I stepped outside to see if the culprit was about, and then it happened. The wind blew and shut the door. being that I was getting a little romantic I was also naked from the waist down. Now this was in a time before mobile phones. Yes, I am that old. So here I was in the middle of a busy city, still people about at 4am. Mostly drunks stumbling home. I had a flower pot covering my gentleman’s vegetable as I manically pressed the door bell hoping my partner in passion would let me in. Sadly alcohol had got to her and she had fallen asleep. It was the longest twenty minutes of my life until she woke up due to the noise to let me back in.

In those twenty minutes I got some very interesting offers from people walking by.

Stories, well what about witnessing something gross, and funny at once?

Typical Saturday here, went to the supermarket to grab some food. Nothing unusual at all. It was far to busy and to many people started to annoy me. That is nothing new. Whilst walking through the car park to come home I notice a Porsche Cayenne. I was drawn to the awful alloy wheels. Plus the colour of the wheels (bold gold), clashed awfully with the primary red paint job of the car.

It wasn’t until I got closer I noticed a woman struggling with a rather vocal little girl. I assume mother and daughter. The little girl was screaming and shouting from her buggy whilst the mother was loading groceries into the rear of the car. As I was passing the mother came round and opened a rear door, picked the little girl from the buggy and went to place her in the car. It was at this point the girl decided to let go of some bodily fluids. Well I doubt she had much choice. I heard the mother scream and the girl had brown liquid dripping from her legs, and the mother had it down her jeans and on her hands. The wind allowed the smell to travel in my direction, and it punched my nostrils hard. It made me gag. As I moved away I heard the mother declare "It's everywhere, over us, the car, oh f@*k!" as she then reached for a huge packet of toilet rolls she had just purchased from the rear of the car.

Enjoying the rather warped, twisted things I found it funny. Being only human it was gross to, but I felt sorry for the little girl, I hope she is feelign better. Also feel for the mum, cleaning up poo is never fun. That was my little trip out today. So if you ever go to buy a used Red Porsche Cayenne with gold alloys, make sure the rear seats are professionally cleaned.

Edgy? I have been called many things, most of them unrepeatable in polite society. But never edgy.

Welcome, and I am new as well. For me the stand out features are its community. If that can be called a feature? Yes its slower here, due to less members. But people are more laid back, and genuine conversation takes place.

Oh lets give this a go then.

    * Location: Lowestoft, England.

    * Interests/hobbies: Words in various shape, size, and form. history, cooking, sociology, psychology, art, urban exploration, nature, the list is huge.

    * 5 music artist: David Bowie, Blur, Pulp, The Kinks, Madness.

    * 5 films: Monty Python and The Holy Grail, The Life of Brian, Amelie, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Shaun of the Dead.

    * 5 shows: Green Wing, QI, Black Books, Bottom, Fry & Laurie.

    * 5 games: Does trying to come into contact with as few idiots as possible count? Minecraft, Prison Architect, Europa Universalis IV, but that’s about it.

    * A dream/goal: My partner to be fit and healthy again, and for my books to be published. Yeah that is two, but I like to break rules.

    * Two truths and a lie:

    (1) I once packed a rucksack and left everything else behind to set up home elsewhere, not that I knew where at the time. Ended up in another country and never returned.

    (2) At the age of 13 I had my long hair shaved it off to raise money for cancer awareness, never grew it long again and it has been every colour you can think off since.

    (3) I was in a group of freestyle BMX riders as a teenager. We appeared on a kids TV show, showcasing our talents, only two hours later I broke my leg and missed out on touring Europe.

May I just add that the 5 best list will change slightly depending on mood, hour, weather, and just because I an indecisive. Oh and any mods out there, i don’t really like to break rules, honest.
