Why a Hacker Who Exposed Rapists Faces More Jail Than the Rapists
A hacker who uncovered evidence that two men who sexually assaulted and photographed an unconscious 16-year-old girl in Steubenville, Ohio, two years ago could spend more than a decade longer in jail than the rapists he helped expose and convict, thanks to an outdated cybersecurity law. Deric Lostutter, 29, could spend a maximum of 16 years behind bars for his alleged role in a hack of a high school football fan website that led to the discovery of tweets and Instagram photos documenting the 2012 sexual assault of a young girl at a party.

‘Mr. Robot’ Drags Bitcoin Into Its Dystopian Nightmare
[Spoilers] - For most of its two seasons, “Mr. Robot” has revolved around a plot to hack and destroy the global conglomerate E Corp. In last night’s episode, though, the plot flipped into a fight over currencies and power and a battle between bitcoin and a government-controlled alternative. The scheme was dreamed up by Phillip Price (Michael Cristofer), the malignant E Corp. CEO, to turn his company’s digital currency, eCoin, into the equivalent of the U.S. dollar, as a way to fight bitcoin.

A police robot disarmed a violent suspect in Los Angeles County
Last week, on September 8th, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's department successfully used a remote-controlled bomb squad robot to snatch a rifle out from under an armed and violent suspect. The standoff between the suspect and an armored SWAT team lasted for more than six hours, but concluded without a single shot fired. "The robot was a game changer here," Capt. Jack Ewell told the LA Times. "We didn't have to risk a deputy's life to disarm a very violent man."

Netflix Subscriber Satisfaction Rises Despite Price Increase

Back in July, Netflix's quarterly report revealed significantly slower subscriber growth in the US. While some speculated the service has reached it's saturation point in the US, others think there might be another issue. "The reason is obvious and has been expected in some circles: Higher monthly subscription costs for customers...

Alleged KickassTorrents Owner Denied Access to U.S. Counsel
In July, Polish law enforcement officers arrested Artem Vaulin, the alleged founder of KickassTorrents, who’s been held in a local prison since. Polish authorities acted on a criminal complaint from the U.S. Government, which accused him of criminal copyright infringement and money laundering. Last month the 30-year-old Ukrainian was indicted together with two co-conspirators, all with ties to Ukraine. While the fate of the other two is unknown, we’ve learned that the U.S. Government has now officially requested Vaulin’s extradition.

The Third Transportation Revolution
I remember when I first fell in love with cars. It started small with Hot Wheels when I was three and Micromachines when I was six. Everything about them was fast and exciting — even the commercials were narrated by the World’s Fastest Talker. I loved them. Then, when I turned 12, my dad and I began taking annual trips to see the real thing at the New York International Auto Show.
