Just stitched that last button on my vest around 15 min ago. I am now done with the top half of my steampunk Pirate outfit. I look goofy because I drank a lot of rum last night. A LOT OF RUM!!!

New Sewing Drinking Game!!
Every time you hand cover a button with cloth, have a shot. The tedium is killing me with this. I have to have 22 cloth buttons and sewing them is boring. I found the bottom of a shot glass is the perfect size for the cloth outlines.

Crooked Tale Pirate Steampunk Addition
Finished up the Steampunk coat for my Steampunk Black Beard costume. Excuse the unfaltering pictures, it's how an extra 10 pounds and a fluffy pirate shirt make you look. The coat is a 1830's Tail Coat from a pattern I purchased. But I changed it into a Swallow Tail coat (I do not have a good picture of the back, no one is here to take one. The collar looks large because they were large between the 1830's and the 1840's. After that time period the collars became much thinner.

Pirate Coat
I am almost finished with my wife's Pirate coat for this season. It is a 1740's frock coat with the 3 godet's to make it fluff out at the waist. The only real alteration is the cuffs hit the wrist on her rather than being up at the middle/top forearm. She didn't like the shorter length arm. I would have worn it outside to show it off but the chest area doesn't fit me and it is overcast and wet.

Aullwood's 23rd Annual Art Quilt Exhibit "A Secret Garden" | Discover Ohio
Aullwood's 22nd Annual Art Quilt Exhibit "Wild Lands, Wild Life" runs from June 28 to August 24, 2014 at the Marie S. Aull Education Center. Wild Lands, Wild Life - What images come to mind? The mega-fauna of the Arctic, Serengeti and Amazon? The bison of Yellowstone, the Snowy Egrets of the Everglades, or the wildflowers of the Great Smokey Mountains? Perhaps thoughts turn to the denizens of a backyard pond or the multitude of insects in an urban garden. They are all wild lands and wild life.
