Snapzu's userbase tripled in size in under 24 hours. My money is on them not expecting the influx or having the infrastructure to support it. The fact it is still online, unlike voat, is quite impressive and speaks volumes about the capability of the admins here.
I'm enjoying Snapzu much more than voat. While I understand the appeal of voat, I'm actuaOlly a bit uncomfortable with just how similar to reddit it is. I really enjoy how Snapzu is trying to differentiate itself from reddit while still keeping itself familiar to new users. Also, the experience system is a great way to entice users to actually post and comment. On reddit, I was very much a lurker, but I haven't even been here long and I'm already way more active.
Indeed it is great they managed to scale out so quickly. This is where Voat lost a truckload of users. TBH, I probably wouldn't be here if Voat was up when I decided to bail on Reddit. But I don't regret anything, if we manage to grow this community with the same kind of quality people I found here, we're going to have one hell of a time.
Im in the same boat. I tried Voat several times. And even before this last reddit drama episode I tried Voat and it was still unstable. Over here not only is it working but this is a wonderful site.
I'd say that if the speed picks up and more users join, and reddit does indeed start to fall apart, this is definitely a great alternative. However I'm more hopeful that Pao will just step down and reddit can be normal again. But that's being hopeful so
You know...leave... As so many have been calling for. Then we can just hope that someone better takes charge and actually runs the site well and cooperates with mods and stuff

The community seems to lack the vitriol of reddit, which has made this place amazing.
Place is great now, but as communities get larger then tend to experience the Eternal September phenomonon.

I for one intend to stay, I cancelled my recurring gold purchases on reddit, and will be donating $20 a month to Snapzu

I agree but I'm pretty sure its due to the influx of users. I'd be annoyed of it wasn't but I'm hoping it gets better soon.
Yea I also hope it gets better, I think its because so many people are coming from reddit

What do you think could Pao do?
Let's not jump to conclusions. The most probable cause for this "slowness" is the extra workload for the system.

Once the reddit refugees ride out the storm and run back home things should quicken. Just hoping some interesting folk remain and maintain new tribes.
