Dresden Files is actually one of my favorites for this reason. I've been pretty surprised the number of things I kind of thought might be important later and turned out to be several books farther on.

I'm looking forward to the revelation that Odin is Harry's father. They've been foreshadowing it forever.
Ooh. Intrigue. Even more incentive to get through the series. But not too fast :)
