The Satanic Temple installs holiday display at state parliament next to Christian nativity scene for fairness
The Satanic Temple of Illinois has set up its Christmas display next to a nativity scene to commemorate the group’s ‘satanic values’ at the state Capitol. WICS reported that earlier this week, for the third year in a row, The Satanic Temple of Illinois installed their notorious display right next to the birth of Christ at the rotunda.

You Can Lead A Christian to Evidence, But You Can’t Make Him Think
I saw this comment today on the internet and loved it. How appropriate for the day preceding the holiday in which two billion people all over the world celebrate the virginal birth of a first century demi-god. It is so very good and so very true! Why is it that no matter how much evidence we present to Christians which debunks their silly superstitions, they always come up with convoluted excuses for holding on to them? Is it because they are stupid? No.

The Mythological Creature that Christians Still Believe In
As atheists, we tend to make fun of Christians who believe in things like talking donkeys, talking snakes and fish that swallow people whole and then deliver them, unharmed, several days later. We laugh at stories of a sea magically parting in half on command, or an angel flying around killing the firstborn sons of everyone who didn’t put blood on their door.

Christians and Jews overrepresented in new U.S. Congress — nonreligious most underrepresented
More than 6 percent of the new Congress is Jewish, with 34 Jews among the total of 535 lawmakers in the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate. Jews make up 2 percent of the U.S. population, so Congress as a whole is more than thrice as Jewish as the country in general, according to a new study by the Pew Research Center on religion in the new Congress, which was inaugurated Thursday.

Atheism Doubles Among Generation Z
It may come as no surprise that the influence of Christianity in the United States is waning. Rates of church attendance, religious affiliation, belief in God, prayer and Bible-reading have been dropping for decades. Americans’ beliefs are becoming more post-Christian and, concurrently, religious identity is changing. Enter Generation Z: Born between 1999 and 2015, they are the first truly “post-Christian” generation.

Atheist parents win right to dig up daughter's remains 35 years after her death
A judge has given the atheist parents of a ten-month-old girl who died 35 years ago permission to have what’s left of her cremated remains dug up from the consecrated ground she was buried in. In an extraordinary case in the Church of England’s Consistory Court, the parents of Elizabeth (Lizzie) Hugill pleaded for rarely granted permission for their daughter’s remains to be exhumed. Lizzie died in December 1982 and was buried in Cheshunt Cemetery the same month.

My Period Made Me an Atheist
In parts of the world, traditional customs and lack of proper hygiene products lead girls to drop out of school. In the Bronx, one Catholic man who preached about our lord Jesus Christ made me want to quit too. At 14, I hadn’t yet learned the ropes of carrying pads and aspirin in my bag or mastered tracking my flow. I was new to being a woman. So when the first ache hit in the middle of religion class, I knew I was screwed. I had no pads, and the sanitary napkin vending machines in the restroom weren’t free.

Why are Millennials running from religion? Blame hypocrisy
I think we can safely say that President Donald Trump has changed American politics forever. He won the White House with no political experience, didn’t release his tax returns, and the extent to which Russia was involved in tilting the election is still under investigation. In the midst of all of Trump’s deception and corruption, there’s one rule he had to follow: yielding to the word of God.

Atheism and the meaning of life
I had a recent conversation on Twitter with a Christian on whether my life has meaning. Many such theists seem to believe that life can have no meaning for atheists. The fact that we can be out there, enjoying life and the experiences it offers, seems impossible for some to grasp.

The Atheist in AA Fighting to Get 'God' Taken Out of the 12 Steps
A Toronto man has taken Alcoholics Anonymous World Services Inc. and the Greater Toronto Intergroup to the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario, alleging discrimination against atheists, agnostics, and freethinkers. The GTA Intergroup, which acts as a central organizing hub and directory for AA groups in Toronto, has essentially kicked out all atheist groups who have changed traditional AA language by taking out the word "God" from the Twelve Steps.

As a Black Atheist, I can't wait.
What is it you want me to reconcile myself to? I was born here almost 60 years ago. I’m not going to live another 60 years. You’ve always told me it takes time. It’s taken my father’s time. My mother’s time. My brother’s and my sister’s time. My niece’s and my nephew’s time. How much time do you want for your “progress”?

In largely Muslim Pakistan, a taboo atheist subculture endures
Being an atheist in Pakistan can be life-threatening. But behind closed doors, nonbelievers are getting together to support one another. How do they survive in a nation where blasphemy carries a death sentence? Omar, named after one of Islam's most revered caliphs, has rejected the faith of his forefathers. He is one of the founding members of an online group — a meeting point for the atheists of Pakistan.
