Maybe that was their plan from the start, use "insiders" as their "beta" testers on the release, to make sure nothing like what happened with the bugs in Windows 8 happens again.
Probably, though my girlfriend is part of their insider program and has had Windows 10 for a while now in Beta mode. So I suppose it's less Beta and more using the Insiders to test the full release instead of the Beta version. Though, she really likes the W10 build a lot, so it hopefully will end up being good.
