A Fresh Mobile Experience & Our Upcoming Community Expansion
TL;DR: Mobile browsing is better than ever. Tribes are getting more functionality and will be easier to discover. And finally, tribe leadership is getting more power to better organize, moderate, and spread/share the content posted in their communities.

[Optimization] This morning we released an update optimizing content creation and editing amongst...
Hi everyone, we are back!
This morning we released a performance update that targets content creation areas like the SCP (Snap Creation Process) as well as the process of editing content (snaps / text posts) and or using the bookmarklet function in general. Doing the following things should be significantly faster for everyone:
- Using the bookmarklet - It used to take an average of 15-20 seconds to process a page and create a snap for editing, now we hope it takes 1/4th that even during peak hours!
- Adding or Editing Snap title & intro - There was an issue that caused saving the title take an unacceptable amount of time, we hope to be hovering at around 1-2 seconds for this now.
- Adding/Searching Tribes - Prior to the update we experienced delays in searching and adding tribes to snaps, at times it took a while for tribes to appear when being added, this should be fixed now as well.
- Adding/Editing Content Modules - All content modules should be working faster!
Even after extended sandbox testing we can never be 100% sure that we wont run into any performance issues, so if you notice something taking a longer then expected please get in touch with us by shooting off an email to support@snapzu.com or you can PM /u/drunkenninja directly to describe the problem.
There is however some bitter with the sweet in this update. The search function had to be disabled for a number of reasons as we work to overhaul our platform's backend for better performance and optimization. We should have the search functionality back in no time at all however, we expect it to be offline for no more than a few days, a week at most.
Thanks everyone, and happy snapping!

2015 at Snapzu – The year Reddit “refugees” started arriving (and much more)
2015 was a year unlike any other! A year filled with ups and downs – literally. It was definitely another successful year that we can consider a great step forward for the Snapzu community.

Release 5.1.2 - Content Organization & Management Expansion
We are excited to introduce a number of improvements to managing and organizing the content that's posted, along with the content interesting enough to save. This update focuses on expanding the previous "Snaps Management" area to provide support for additional content types (ie. comments & text posts) as well as more sorting and filtering options. We have also dramatically improved the Snapzine functionality, as well as added the ability to save text posts and comments.

Upcoming API - Calling all Developers
As you may already know from other posts circulating Snapzu that we are scheduling to build an API that we plan to release some time in the next 2-3 months. We have thought about it long and hard and realized that at 2-3 month release date isn't good enough. So, we need your help! Our idea is to list the general things we would like and not like for a first version API to have and then continue working on it to release additional functionality as we grow and mature as a platform.
Functionality we don't wish to release with initial release
- Ability to create / manage / edit snaps
- Profile settings / visual settings
- Tribe Management / settings / visual settings
Functionality we would like for initial release
- Account creation
- Account login / management
- Access to snap / text post / comment history
- Ability to vote on all comments / snaps / text posts
- Ability to comment on snaps / text posts
- Ability to create text posts
- Ability to private message
- Profile Overview
If we can create a barebones API we would be able to release it much sooner (possibly inside 1.5 months). This will also allow us to continue working with developers on upcoming features which can be added to later releases. As a developer please let us know what type of barebones features you would like to see in the initial release (maybe we forgot some very important functions). We are also looking for general feedback on everything to do with API's. We plan to start next week, so any discussion on the subject is important to us, as we would like to work with you on making this the best API possible.

Voting System: Overview of Upcoming Functionality for Release 5.3
Over the past several weeks we have received a lot of really helpful feedback pertaining to the improvement of our voting functionality. We realized that due to a number of complex architectural and community factors the basic up/down voting approach is no longer the most effective way to leave accurate feedback, or for that matter help in the moderation of content.

This Week in Google 309 - TWiT (Snapzu gets a video review!)
The episode is long but has some great discussions about tech (mostly Google), but what stood out was that they also included a nice (somewhat lengthy) review of Snapzu starting at the 1:42 mark. Good to see Snapzu getting some love out there.

Conversation on Snapzu?
Using other social media, snapzu seems notably lacking in the social department. Maybe I am out of the loop and haven't found the place where people discuss? Or is Snapzu simply more akin to pintrest or stumbleupon than reddit or facebook, more a place to post links than to talk? Of course people make the odd comment, but I haven't seen much in the way of conversation here.

Snapzu: A year in review and what to expect in 2015!
In 2014, our first entire year of operations, we welcomed over 5,000 new members and countless more casual readers and lurkers. Our members published over 80,000 snaps, posted 30,000 comments and placed well over 3 million votes. We realize this may seem like peanuts when compared to other established services, but after all, every community has to start somewhere. Our team is dedicated, hungry, and always looking to improve as we ever so diligently aim to raise the bar.
