I have a friend who , in normal conversation, uses fuck and cunt almost continuously. He also knows lots of other bigger cleaner words which he uses when talking to parents, for business and the like. It's definitely a case of book and cover.

I tend to use "colorful" language when I'm with people that enjoy that type of thing. I will however completely change my language settings when I am with family and or professionals that just don't appreciate that verbal approach :D

I've had a few people express utter shock when I drop an "f-bomb" or similar. I tend to reserve swearing to emphasize a point, so using it too much makes it lose its potency. ;)

          I agree. A good F bomb goes a long way. :)

That's more or less how my parents raised me, and how I have raised my kids: only swear around people who will appreciate it; and when you do swear, do it creatively and with gusto. Another thing my dad taught me has proven true a number of times: every great once in awhile, being the only person in the room who is not swearing can pay off big time, so think it over before you join in.
