While that's true, Russia Today is a rebranded version of the old Soviet Tass news agency, two things:

One, whoever it was that chose this source for this story is one or more of the followings things: an idiot; a bot; one of these McCarthyites SOBs; in it for the clicks; or maybe a combination of all of these.

Two, whatever your Cold War conditioning tells you, government-owned or semi-governmentally-owned news agencies aren't limited to the old Soviet Union. Reuters, the BBC, NPR, Voice of America, Xinhua, Halvas, Al Jazeera, Al Arabiya... If you're thinking any of these are fundamentally different, you're deluding yourself.

Now, the Associated Press, on the other hand, even after their shameful Bush Era years, they're fundamentally different. And as I've gone into more times than perhaps I should've, they're the ones that broke the old colonial system of continent-wide news monopolies.

So if you're looking down your nose at Russia Today because it's not as true and unbiased as your sources, like this McCarthyist bullfeathers in the Washington Post, you may want to think again.
