I envy the Homo unius libri; there are times when I wish that I didn't feel the obligated to read anymore as a result of finding one book or set of books that resonate deeply with me. I have read books that I liked, but none felt like something that I'd want to re-read constantly.
Unfortunately I've allowed philosophy to taint my mind, so now I'll never live the life of a simple man!

The worst that I do is just judge them as weird, but other than that I'm fine with those types of people.

I'm all for fun or roleplay, but it irks me if someone actually believes in some of these things.

I've added two related links:
Feedbooks: smaller selection of public domain works but artistic e-book covers (in contrast to Gutenberg's lack of covers for older books). Its perfect if you have a Kindle Fire and love scrolling through your covers on the carousel.
Manybooks: imports books from Gutenberg and other source and adds a cover. Some covers are artistic, others are simple cover templates. Every book gets sorted into categories when uploaded, so the categories on Manybooks is so much more useful than Gutenberg's wiki-ish categories pages.

I start a new book a day. I am far too curious for my own good and I cannot keep patient enough to read one book at a time. So I have a few hundred books that I've started and haven't finished, 30 or so books that I'm halfway done with, and 5ish books that I'm almost done with.

I'm trying to get into poetry and I feel embarrassed because I recognize none of the authors mentioned in that article. I plan to start out with Walt Whitman's Leaves of Grass after I get off Snapzu so that I can journey into this unknown world of poetry.

It applies logic, but its flawed. It follows:
If H lives, then V dies.
If V lives, then H dies.
But with this logic, both may die. There is nothing stating that the other is alive if one is dead, only that if one lives the other is definitely dead.
For further clarification. If Harry is dead, it doesn't mean that Voldemort has to be alive and done it. Harry could have been mauled by a hippogriff (or w/e) and it wouldn't be proof of Voldemort's aliveness. It just means that Harry is dead.

The New Jim Crow: Drug Policy as a Race Policy
Garry McCarthy, a 30-year veteran of law enforcement, did not expect to hear anything too startling when he appeared at a conference on drug policy organized last year by an African-American minister in Newark, where he was the police director. But then a law professor named Michelle Alexander took the stage and delivered an impassioned speech attacking the war on drugs as a system of racial control comparable to slavery and Jim Crow — and received a two-minute standing ovation from the 500 peo

For Women, a Second Sentence
NINE years ago, I served 11 months at the Federal Correctional Institution in Danbury, Conn., for a decade-old nonviolent drug crime. Danbury is the sole women-only federal prison in the Northeast and is part of a complex that typically incarcerates low-security female offenders from Maine to Pennsylvania. The aging hulk of the facility dates from 1940 and has housed women for nearly 20 years.
