Since, as we know, you live to learn, maybe you should start this journey of discovery and wonderment with the author of this piece and then move outwards from there. Baby steps, right?

Can't say as I blame you. Even I'm embarrassed how proudly, willfully, ignorant that was.

Journalists were, are and will continue to be targeted. What you said:

        Journalists, you aren’t/weren’t/won’t be “targeted”

Now, we could have talked about how the author, James Risen, has, is and will continue to be targeted, but your interest in this subject is about deep as a plate.

James Risen forced The New York Times to publish the story of President Bush’s warrantless wiretapping program finally in 2006, after they’d refused to print it for years in deference to 'national security interests,' by preparing to publish it himself. In your childlike, Breitbart meets Fisher Price universe, you knit your brows together long and hard and finally come up with this pity party starter:

        you are/were used/owned.

Shrewdly, you knew better than to let learning or knowing or understanding get in the way of your lulz.

So we’re not going to have that conversation. We’ll have to leave it for another time what machinery sets into motion every. single. time. Laura Poitras takes an airplane somewhere, then.

My suggestion for you is that when you’re getting your lulz this way, and you know you’d better not fall for the trick of learning even the first goddamn thing about the subject, lest the brilliance of your insight appear to be dimmed somewhat, you might consider the possibility that your precious ignorance is not the measure of how clever you are. Or even the possibility that despite how pleased with yourself you are, you’re full of it.
