What is your favourite lesser known TV show?

I'll start

Trapped - It's an Icelandic crime show...The show is in Icelandic but there are English subs available. Personally I love the music choice in this show and the show keeps on getting more and more exiting as more plots are added to the show. It's a 10 episode series and really worth watching.

People who donĀ“t watch much Japanese animation might not know about Mushishi, a supernatural mystery show. Sinopsis from Anime News Network: "They are neither plants nor animals. They differ from other forms of life such as the micro-organisms and the fungi. Instead they resemble the primeval body of life and are generally known as "Mushi". Their existence and appearance are unknown to many and only a limited number of humans are aware of them. Ginko is a "Mushi-shi" who travels around to investigate and find out more about the "Mushi". In the process, he also lends a helping hand to people who face problems with supernatural occurances which may be related to the "Mushi"."

Each episode is a complete story, so no cliffhangers. Not the usual anime tropes, therefore more accessible to the general public.

0.o I am a big Mushishi fan!!!!!! The story, the animation, the color pallet!!!! I even liked the live action adaptation. I got hooked watching it on Hulu when it first came over to the US. My wife never understood the "broken" story line and why Ginko was never really the focus of the episodes except for a few. Ginko usually just played the part of a bridge between the unseen and the seen, humans and Mushi, and when the interaction was done a new story began. Love it. Sorry for geeking out.
