France to loan 430 million euros to Iraq: Foreign ministry
France is to grant a 430-million euro loan to Iraq whose economy has been weakened by low oil prices and its fight against jihadists, a French foreign ministry official said today. Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian made the announcement during talks in Baghdad with Iraq’s Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi and said the USD 512-million would be released before the end of 2017, the official told AFP.

An informed Iraqi source in Nineveh Province has said the first wife of an ISIS terrorist has burned alive the husband, along with his newlywed second spouse, a few minutes after the end of their wedding ceremony in Tal Afar in west of the northern Iraqi province.

Iran and Iraq sign accord to boost military cooperation
Iran and Iraq signed an agreement on Sunday to step up military cooperation and the fight against "terrorism and extremism", Iranian media reported, an accord which is likely to raise concerns in Washington. Iranian Defence Minister Hossein Dehghan and his Iraqi counterpart Erfan al-Hiyali signed a memorandum of understanding which also covered border security, logistics and training, the official news agency IRNA reported.

Iraq’s prime minister, Haider al-Abadi, has declared victory over Islamic State forces in Mosul after nearly nine months of bitter fighting to displace the extremist group from the city where it proclaimed its “caliphate”.
