[Site Behaviour] Retain Text Hyperlink When Expanding Images in Comments

When a user clicks a link to an image in a comment, the hyperlink text is replaced by the image that is loaded in-line. As people sometimes create links mid-sentence, it often renders the sentence unreadable. In large threads with lots of this type of link it can be a small hassle. I suggest that the text is retained as well as loading the image immediately after.

Example:

Link format (hyperlink in bold): "Hey, I found the best hairstyle for you!"

Current behaviour: "Hey, I found [image] for you!"

Suggested behaviour: "Hey, I found the best hairstyle [image] for you!"

Actually, I don't agree with this. Inline image linking has its purposes and I think your approach would probably just give a new list of issues. What I do think we need is that images should appear to the side of linked text and shoule be re-hidable after clicking the link to show them. Having them show but not hide is just weird.

My expand approach is literally what you described as a better alternative (without the hiding as I consider it a separate, though valid, issue). Unless you are talking about the ability to actually follow the link.

Ideally (perfect world), the whole shebang should work as:

      - Click word, image expands after text.

      - Click expanded image, follow URL in browser.

      - Click and drag expanded image, resize it.

      - Click text again when image is expanded, image collapses.

Though I do see this being considered multiple issues/user stories.
