'Neighboring Tribes' Box in Tribe Sidebar
It would be useful to have another customisable box under the rules where tribe chiefs can enter a number of relevant or 'sister' tribes. This should not be free text, but a search/selection like snap submission.
This would be incredibly useful for linking tribes, helping to jump start some cross-pollination between communities, and promoting a sense of camaraderie.
For instance, I might like swimming, but not know that /t/diving, /t/scubadiving and /t/synchronizedswimming exist (the last two don't, btw ;P). This way, when I visit /t/swimming, I would see these related tribes in the sidebar.

I like this, but isn't it possible to place this within the area where the rules are located?
Yeah it is possible, but having a separate box for "Related Tribes" would be nice. Gives you the ability to link tribes and Snapzu could give you a "Join" button next to the tribe so that you never leave the page.

Yes it is, but I had to cut down my character count just to get my rules in. I like the idea of having it as a fixed feature, as you'll always know where to look and won't have formatting/placement differences between different tribes.
Also (and this is really minor/pipedreamy), at some point in the future it could even be used to see where your tribe members came from if they ever decided to introduce some referral statistics for chiefs.
Oh, wow, I think this would be a great idea! Kind of like when you select tribes when you're submitting a snap, you can select tribes as neighboring tribes for the sidebar. And if the admins want to, they can increase the amount of sister tribes you can have as you level up.
I think this gives much more possibility for a cooler format, like instead of just text links that most tribes are doing now, we could also have the avatar of the tribe or whatever the admins think would look best. :) Awesome idea! And a join button next to the tribes is also a great idea!
Exactly. I think the tribe flag might be a touch too big if there's a list a few tribes long but I think the base idea really works. Also, adding to the list could appear as a non-mandatory step when you start a new tribe, so the site's actively promoting cross linking, rather than just leaving it to the chiefs' own initiative.
I feel like a clear connection between tribes will really help the site feel more like a sprawling infrastructure to users, and prevent the feeling of insularity that might exist on the tribe view screen.
It appears you can fit this in the rules, but yes it would be nice. Honestly, I'm still trying to figure out how to cross post content between sister Tribes to make my life a little easier. I feel like such a babby here.
The cool thing about Snapzu is that when you're creating a snap, you can select multiple tribes to submit the snap to! So for instance if I drew something, I could choose to send it to /t/artists, /t/digitalart, /t/pics, etc. :) It's in the sidebar when you're creating a snap. This way, the snaps are all connected and you can see all the tribes it has been submitted to on the snap's page.
