Snapzu Enhancement Release [v0.0.1a] (Chrome)

Hi all,

I've been hard at work over the past week and I'm happy to announce that Snapzu Enhancement has just been released -- version 0.0.1 alpha.

Before I list the features, there are a few things you all need to know:

  1. I am not a JavaScript developer by trade, nor do I have much experience with it. This is a learning project for me but I am happy to share it with people, as you all seemed to be interested in RES for Snapzu.
  2. Seriously, I'm not a developer. I'm a chemistry/biology student at university.
  3. THERE WILL BE BUGS. Will it break your Snapzu? Hopefully not! Will it cause annoying problems that will make you want to wring my neck? Probably! But hey, free stuff!
  4. THIS IS AN OPEN ALPHA. The extension is nowhere near finished, nor is it anywhere near the same calibre as RES. I'll try my best to add features, but I can't promise everything.

With that all over, here is the list of features in this version:

  • Front page galore! You'll be able to spend more time on the front page now, with the ability to see the content of text posts, images and video snaps!
  • Drag-to-resize images! ******* Note: this is only enabled on the front page images for now, while I figure out a solution for images within comment threads.

Known issues (already, yes):

  • Flickr image posts are not supported yet, as they bring an additional level of complexity to show
  • Unable to preview posts from within a tribe: due to a difference in element structure between the front page and a tribe page, this still needs a bit of work before I can release it.

That's about it, I think!

Here's the link to the chrome store.

How? Is there an expand button? I couldn't find it.

Sorry for not making this clear! For now, the expand is hooked to the thumbnail on text/video/image posts, but from the feedback I think it might be best to add a button.

Thanks for the clarification. I came back to the thread because I couldn't figure it out.

Any way you can add options for a Dark theme, similar to Reddit Enhancement Suites Options?

Yes, a dark theme is planned. It just takes a lot more work than most of the other features (silly, I know) so I haven't spent time on it yet.

Hi, at first thx for this, looks cool, sadly i cannot use it.

Why do you not make it as a userscript? This way all browsers could use it.

User scripts via Tampermonkey/Greasemonkey don't allow for expanding this into what I'd like and they're not a good solution for the average end user, IMHO.

I will be porting this to Firefox at a later date, but have no plans to support any other browsers other than the FF and Chrome.

Nice work. Can't wait for the Firefox version to come out eventually. :)

I'm betting he's developing as a plugin for Chrome first, then will port to other browsers (like RES)

I admire the passion and willingness to stretch yourself. I wish you all the best in the development of this suite.

You should include its features in the overview. All it says is that it's like RES (but how?), and that it's still buggy (what bugs?), and I don't understand what the pictures are showing me.

I'm downloading it anyway because of what I've read here, but not everyone's going to find it through this post.

      Hey,

This is a very old post (relative to the life span of the extension). I have the latest version stickied on this tribe, but I realise that they aren't in the most visible place. However with that said, there is a list of the features that were available in this version, just above the chrome store link and known issues.

I installed the version linked in the right hand side bar, but there's no list of features in the side bar or the chrome webstore.

        Just this:

        An enhancement suite for Snapzu.

[SNAPZU ENHANCEMENT IS CURRENTLY IN AN OPEN ALPHA. IT IS UNFINISHED AND SHOULD NOT BE VIEWED AS A COMPLETE PRODUCT.]

Snapzu Enhancement is a Reddit Enhancement Suite-like extension for the social website, Snapzu.

It doesn't say how it enhances snapzu, just that it does.

Right, on the chrome store itself. I expect everyone who installs it will be coming from this tribe (for now) so I haven't taken the time to write a feature list. It'll be on the store sometime soon but if you're curious:

          - View image, text and video posts by clicking on the thumbnail -- so you don't have to visit each post to view the contents

          - Night mode, for reduced eye strain in low light conditions

It isn't a long list yet, but it has been a lot of work.
