The climb that left me frozen with fear
There are thousands of industrial chimneys in the Czech Republic, with many dating back to the late 19th Century - most are no longer used and a group of enthusiasts spend their weekends climbing the structures. Alastair Lawson joined them in Zelezny Brod, but soon regretted it. I am 40m (130ft) up a 120-year-old chimney in the north-east of the Czech Republic and I am having a minor panic attack. My legs feel like lead weights as I look down on the tiny figures on the ground below me.

A 10-year-old mutt named Quasi Modo, whose spinal birth defects left him a bit hunchbacked, is the winner of this year's World's Ugliest Dog contest. The pit bull-Dutch shepherd mix and his owner took the $1,500 prize Friday night, besting 25 other dogs competing in the contest that applauds imperfection, organizers said. Quasi Modo was abandoned at an animal shelter before being adopted by a veterinarian in Loxahatchee, Florida, according to his biography posted on the contest's website.

Relaxing with Runcible, the circular 'anti-smartphone'
The Runcible is both the strangest and most intriguing device that I've seen at Mobile World Congress this year. It offers many of the same capabilities as a smartphone, but it looks like a trinket you would find in a trendy vintage store. That's by design, though: Its creator, Monohm, wants the circular gizmo to challenge the now ubiquitous smartphone experience, which is increasingly defined by a relentless stream of notifications.

Japanese porn industry extremely short on male actors, as many as 10,000 women against only 70 men
According to sales data, monthly sales of pornography — commonly referred to as AV, or adult video — is around 4500 units, with nearly 10,000 women partaking in the action. Not so long ago, AV actresses were seen as women in need of money to get out of debt, but as of late more and more women are wanting to join the industry, not necessarily needing it.

Author: Courtney Love, Not Kurt Cobain, Wrote Note Found in Wallet
SEATTLE (AP) — One of the foremost experts on Kurt Cobain said the late grunge rocker did not pen a note mocking his wedding vows to fellow musician Courtney Love. Love herself wrote it, said Seattle author Charles R. Cross, who has written several books on Cobain, including the biography Heavier Than Heaven. Cross said Love emailed him to say that she wrote the note and that she gave it to Cobain before their wedding in 1991.
