No, this hurts me, why would they change Pete's Dragon. I know it can't be the same but come on, where are the Gogan's? Where's Nora?
This movie doesn't appear to have long lasting memorable songs about doing all my sewing and all my mowing... or A dragon, a dragon, I swear I saw a dragon... :(
Remakes sometimes just ruin the nostalgia more than make me want to see the new one. I guess this is how older generations felt when Disney remade their fairy tales.
I'm pretty sure just watching the original Pete's Dragon would ruin the nostalgia. I too remember it fondly, but am pretty sure it would not hold up to a present day –or present me– viewing.
I recently bought it on Blu-Ray or DVD, I can't remember which, and have yet to open it. I have that fear, along with Flight of the Navigator which is also being remade. In light of what you say it makes me think of the Goonies, I bought it too and while it's still a fun movie, it wasn't as great as memory had it.
