Maybe instead of training in how to run away they should train in defending themselves? It's been over 60 years.
Article 9 in their constitution outlaws Japan from settling international disputes via armed conflicts or even helping allies out. That was passed in 1947, Abe in 2014 loosened that up a bit, to the chagrin of many in Japan.
