Only the basic and most important govt agencies continue running. At least that's my understanding of it.

Don't forget that 800,000 workers go without pay...

and the active duty soldiers. they originally weren't going to get paid, but the democrats/republicans put through an order at the last minute to ensure they'd still get paid.

the thing that's going to fuck up a lot of people are the grants for the scientists. the grant cycles tend to operate in october, but because this is the government and it's shut down, these people won't be getting their grant money when the government turns back on, oh no. they probably won't see it until 6 months to a year down the line, and for those that do research in antarctica, or deal with animals mating seasons, well...they're shit out of luck.

Both, this is bullshit. Every politician in Washington should be impeached or fired.

not sure if serious, but if you are, you really should reanalyze your stance. we haven't had a formal budget deal in years due to the extreme partisanship in congress now. CR bills, or continuing resolutions, are only made to fund the government when there is no signed budget deal. there should be NO REASON why there are any attachments tacked onto these sorts of bills--it should be considered standard operating procedure to continue funding our government. sure, with formal budget deals you can tack on all sorts of whatever you choose to try and get the most of your priorities, but this is not the time to do it.

also, this CR bill is only for the next six weeks--we're going to have to repeat it all in november anyways.

Here are some other snaps you may like...
