The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists says the Doomsday Clock “is as close to midnight today as it was in 1953, when Cold War fears perhaps reached their highest levels.”

I'm old enough to remember the insanity of duck and cover drills in elementary school. We are not closer now than we were during the mid and latter stages of the cold war.
And we were closer during the Cuban missile crisis than we were in 1953.
