Car Alarms Don't Work. Why Are They So Common?
In the animated TV show Rick and Morty, there is a car-security system that keeps passengers safe by inflicting psychological warfare on, and then destroying, anyone who so much as approaches the vehicle. I've wondered about this for some time. I'm glad to find out that most cars no longer come with these damn noise makers.
I modified mine 2 years ago, never been happier. The alarm light thingy still blinks, but the alarm doesn't turn on unless it detects movement inside the car, and not out.
They may not be standard equipment, but they still come on many many cars we've looked at recently. I spend a few hours at a dealer due to stupid recalls and it looked like every car I saw had this feature on the sticker still. I always assumed it was nice to have though, someone screaming for help is going to get looks sure, but them screaming and their alarm going off when they hit that panic button, that would draw more attention.
As for the blasting at 3AM thing, that is fucking annoying, we had a car's security system go crazy in the middle of the night, the only way to stop it was to pull the fuse and to this day that fuse is still pulled, almost 10 years later because the cost of finding the problem is more hassle than having the alarm. Granted the horn doesn't work either though.
