Miniature world of Moss, Lichen and Fungi
A rare Aseroe rubra or starfish fungus, in the leaf litter under a tree at the Auckland Domain, These fungus only live for a couple of days. These are native to Australia and New Zealand. It begins as a partly buried whitish egg-shaped structure 3 cm (1¼ in) in diameter,A tiny 3cm tall wood mushroom grows on the lawn under the trees in our garden. These fungi grow on and around tree roots.an ancient fungus approx 500 yrs old grows on a fallen log in the Lake Okataina Forest. this fungus is about 2 meters in diameter and very strong and you could sit on it. It is covered with lichen and other tiny fungi.
