Michael Kauffman talked about the legacy of Abraham Lincoln and his impact on the U.S. and the world following his assassination. He also spoke about John Wilkes Booth’s motives for killing the president and how security for presidents has changed since 1865. Mr. Kaufmann is the author of American Brutus: John Wilkes Booth and the Lincoln Conspiracies. “Assassination, Mourning, and Security of Presidents” was part of “The Legacy of Lincoln and the American Civil War” symposium held by the Lincoln Group of the District of Columbia at the New York Avenue Presbyterian Church
