    I don't think the real problem is Trump. The real problem is that technology has given people an unprecedented ability to learn about what their governments are doing, and to communicate it to everyone else. It's not only the government who can spy on their citizens.

    The result is that people are no longer willing to trust whatever the government or the media tell them, because it's much easier for the bullshit to smell through. People have no confidence in the institutions because they can easily see how corrupted they are.

      Yes, I agree. I think it's just being called a Trump era as he seemed to have gone against the "establishment", even though he is part of it. Very few people trust anything the news or government says anymore.
