I have an older "smart" tv and have never plugged in because of this type of thing, I instead use Roku and an Amazon Stick because at least they are upfront about what they are doing.

I have a Vizio Smart TV manufactured a couple of years ago. Read some Comments about how to turn off interconnectivity - didn't match my setup. I mainly use it as a Monitor, so I'm disconnecting it from the router for now (connect it only when I need a feature).
