Surf lifesavers at Lennox Head, near Byron Bay, on the New South Wales far north coast, have pioneered the use of drones to help rescue two people in danger of being swept out to see and drowning. The two teenage boys were swimming about 1km away from the flags when in heavy surf with a three-metre swell when they were spotted by a member of the public who saw they were in trouble and called lifeguards at around 11.30am today.

Danish authorities demand women-only swimming sessions are scrapped
Danish authorities have voted in overwhelming favour to scrap women-only swimming sessions used by migrants at a swimming pool. Officials in the city of Aarhus demanded the end of gender-separated sessions at the Gellerupbadet swimming hall saying people need to 'learn to swim together'. Many of the women who use the sessions are Muslim migrants who live on a nearby housing estate.
