It very well could happen. Ubuntu user here..My worry about this is if you go out and about with your Ubuntu phoneputer,or whatever they call it, and you lose it,or someone steals it, there goes your computer and all your stuff. I'm not comfortable with that quite frankly.
That really is a great threat but I think you will get more advantages than problems if this concept comes to life. We'll need some time to get used to it, like with everything new. Few years ago we had email access only from PC, we could buy things only in shops and so on.
