This is actually pretty cool. I looked into it and it's actually called a homopolar motor (I think). I'll add it to the RLs too.
Just a word of caution: because the wire directly connects both ends of the cell, the whole circuit can quickly get warm. Really warm. So don't leave it for too long!
I'm also wondering if continued prolonged connection can somehow damage the battery?
