The real 'Alpha House': Yes, this is where some Senators actually live

Paint peeling off the walls. Sheets for curtains. Broken blinds. A mangled wicker chair made settable with a board. An ancient stove with a giant hole. And there's also the pile of underwear in the living room. What looks and feels like the most rundown frat house on campus is actually the Capitol Hill home of some of the most powerful men in Washington.

What Is Duck Dynasty and What Does It Have to Do With a Man's Anus?

You, my fellow godless, sarcastic, coastal elites, may recently have heard something about a reality TV show called Duck Dynasty. Specifically, one of its main cast members said some homophobic and racist shit that earned him an indefinite suspension from the show. The controversy, of course, has generated stupid reactions the usual idiots. But let's go back a step, because you're probably thinking to yourself, "What the fuck is a Duck Dynasty?" Let me explain.

There Are Two Americas, And One Is Better Than The Other

Matt Lewis writes of the controversy over Duck Dynasty that "There really are two Americas" and that the divide over the show "has as much to do with class and geography and culture and attitude as it does with religion." That's true. Specifically, there's one America where comparing homosexuality to bestiality is considered acceptable, and another where it is rude and offensive.

Parks & Recreation renewed for seventh season

NBC has renewed Parks & Recreation for a seventh season during its executive session at the Television Critics Association winter press tour. The relevant quote, from network president Robert Greenblatt: “I'm going to go out on a limb: Parks & Rec is going to have a seventh season.” Since Greenblatt renewed it in the spur of the moment, thanks to one of his capricious whims, there’s not yet news on how many episodes that will entail or if it will be the show’s final season

9 Netflix Originals to Look Forward to in 2014

Netflix has more to offer these days than a simple streaming platform for your favorite network shows. Slowly but surely, it’s been growing beyond contracts with networks to introduce its own original content — some of which has been very good — taking its brand name to a whole new place. It’s not the only online streaming platform to make that move either.

Check out the trailer for Mike Judge's new HBO comedy 'Silicon Valley'

Soon there will once again be a TV show about startups, but this time its coming from King of the Hill and Bevis & Butthead creator Mike Judge. (Also, it’s actually OK to laugh at this one, unlike Bravo’s failed reality attempt. The show, called Silicon Valley, follows a male-heavy cast of tech geeks from across the industry — a group of startup founders, executives of a huge Google-like corporation, a bored mega-rich investor, etc.

Amazon Has Finally Made Its House of Cards.

Last April, Amazon dove into the original programming arms race. It made eight comedy pilots, put them on the Internet, and then selected the best two to expand into full series. The original batch of pilots all had a DIY, goofy, occasionally experimental vibe, excepting Garry Trudeau’s congressmen comedy Alpha House, which alone looked like a show that could air on a old-fashioned, broadcast-to-a-television network.
