An indigenous nation in Canada says it has found 751 unmarked graves at the site of a former residential school in Saskatchewan. The Cowessess First Nation said the discovery was "the most significantly substantial to date in Canada".

Saskatchewan woman performs CPR on newborn, then gives birth to two more
A Saskatchewan woman who had to perform CPR on one of her newborn triplets while still in labour with the other two says all three babies are doing awesome. Danielle Johnston said her triplets, Karlee, Liam and Jack, are in the neonatal intensive care unit at a Regina hospital and will stay there for another two weeks.

Saskatchewan to set legal age for cannabis at 19, won’t charge minors
Saskatchewan is proposing to set the legal age to consume cannabis at 19 but minors caught with a small amount won’t end up with a criminal record. The government tabled legislation Wednesday outlining its plans once the federal government legalizes marijuana later this year. Justice Minister Don Morgan said public health and safety was the government’s priority when it set the age at 19.

108-year-old Canadian man says the trick to a long life is to pick a good wife
Esmond Allcock says the secret to living 108 years is to select the proper spouse. Allcock, from Kerrobert, Sask., celebrated his 108th birthday on Friday. He is one of the oldest men in Canada. "I didn't behave myself for a few years there, but then I got a really good wife," he said, when asked how he managed to live a long and happy life.

Perogies, cabbage rolls stolen from Sask. business twice in 1 week
t's been a frustrating week for Jared Ruf. Twice in the span of a few days, a large quantity of perogies, cabbage rolls and other baking from Ruf's co-owned Saskatchewan food processing business, In Good Taste, was stolen from their outside storage freezers, he said. The first theft happened overnight Monday, he explained. Then on Thursday morning, he got a call telling him that someone had broken the new locks on the freezers and taken off with more goods sometime overnight Wednesday.

Missing girl found dead in Saskatchewan Amber Alert case
An Amber Alert and frantic search for a seven-year-old girl ended in tragedy Thursday when her body was discovered in a home in northeastern Saskatchewan. The alert was issued by police in Nipawin overnight after Nia Eastman was not returned to her mother Wednesday evening. Police said Nia’s father, Adam Jay Eastman, was found dead earlier in the day from self-inflicted injuries. Officers found the girl’s body in a house in Choiceland, a small community not far from Nipawin, where residents say the father rented a home.

Saskatchewan gas jockey Dick Assman, of Letterman fame, dead at 82
A Saskatchewan gas jockey who got quite a bit more than 15 minutes of fame after appearing on David Letterman’s “The Late Show” because of his unusual last name has died. A posting on the website of Regina’s Speers Funeral Chapel says Dick Assman died Monday at the age of 82. In 1995, a Petro-Canada gas station owner placed an advertisement to let customers know that Assman — a German name properly pronounced OSS-man — had moved from one outlet to another.

Letterman favourite Dick Assman of Regina dies at age 82
Dick Assman, the Regina gas station worker whose surname led to a brief stint on David Letterman's late-night talk show, has died at age 82. Assman, who was born in Neudorf, Sask., in 1934, died on Monday. He worked as a manager, mechanic and gas attendant at service stations in Saskatchewan his whole life.
