[META] One-Shot Session #1: Welcome to Dungeon World!

Howdy everybody,

First, before I get into the main topic of this post, I'd like to mention a couple things:

1) A few people are still figuring out exactly what this tribe is about. That's fair, since we really are starting out and, as other more active members have stated, this tribe's identity is still being etched out. That said, the goal of this tribe is to facilitate anything pen-and-paper.

Have an interesting story? Write about it! Want to set up a session? Post it here! Found a really cool indie game system? Let us know! The purpose of this is to create a center for this hobby that we love.

2) I'd like to apologize as of late for being inactive. I've been dealing with personal events in my life that have resulted in me being away from social networking sites. I'm going to be doing my best to remain active.

Now that those are out of the way...

Welcome to Dungeon World!

Our first community One-Shot is coming up with an as-of-yet undefined time! To help coordinate this process, I've created a roll20 campaign which you can access here. Upon accessing the campaign, please message me the following:

  • Your username on Snapzu
  • Time and availability

Once you've done this, please take a gander over at the Dungeon World SRD and familiarize yourself with the concepts of the game and what classes are available. If you'd like, you can request to reserve a particular class you want to be (there will be no doubles).

The cut-off for invites will be: - if there are no more seats available (There will be 6 seats, 9 if there warrants enough interest). - on Thursday the 23rd.

Thanks for your interest, and I'm looking forward to gming for you all!

Hmm it appears the link for the campaign isn't good. I get a "Not Authorized" on the link. You may need to just post your profile so people can add you and request an invite.

Edit: Whoops a bit too slow. It does work now.

I just updated it. Try again and let me know if it still doesn't work.

Awesome look forward to playing with you. :)

Have you decided what class you'd like to book or not yet? More importantly though have you let RoastedRareByte when your availability is?

In the pre-session discussion, we'll create characters together.

I've updated the one-shot link, for those having trouble.

I've been reading into the system since I've never actually heard of Dungeon World before. Interesting. It feels pretty similar to Numenera, though the "moves" concept is a bit unique.

This is also my first experience with it. It definitely seems a lot simpler than the DnDs and Pathfinder type games that I'm used to. It'll be interesting seeing how it plays out. :)

Any idea what class you'd like to try?

So far, the Arcane Duelist has caused a few ideas to float around in my head, but it looks like it's a 3rd party class? So, I'd have to confirm it with our dear DM, obviously. But I'm still reading through everything.

I'd rather leave Arcane Duelist alone and you stick to the non-3rd party classes :)

I kind of expected that :P
At the moment, I'm looking towards either a good or neutral halfling druid... or an evil dwarven cleric. Can think of some fun things for either of those, depending on how much party volatility we want :)

Liked your idea for your druid's background. I wrote something as an idea of how our characters know each other. Let me know what you think. It's completely just a suggestion if there's anything you don't like, or if I misunderstood your character, let me know. :)
