Is Nintendo Preparing the Switch for VR?
The Nintendo Switch has the opportunity to be for VR what the Wii was to expanding the audience for gaming. During Nintendo's Switch presentation, several big announcements were made- the console will cost $299.99, be region free and is set to be launched on March 3, 2017 in North America, Asia and Europe. Something that Nintendo showed off at the start of the show were the Joy-Con controllers- the tiny handheld input devices that can be detached and swung around like Wiimotes are going to be very, very important to the Nintendo Switch- but not necessarily in the most obvious of ways.

The 5 Most Exciting Upcoming Indie Switch Games
Nintendo's latest console, the Switch, is set to be released on March 3, 2017- one of the biggest criticism's of Nintendo's yet-to-be released console has thus far been its rather sparse launch lineup. While The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild certainly looks incredible, the other games teased, while they look fun, don't seem to be big system sellers. Nintendo is painfully aware of this, and has turned to showcasing its indie games- they released a video showing off some of the indie games coming to the system, and they’ve announced that over sixty indie games are on track to be released in 2017. Here are five games worth checking.

Game Theory: Nintendo’s SECRET PLAN for the SWITCH!
The Nintendo Switch is literally releasing in a few hours and there has been a TON of HYPE leading up to this, Nintendo's newest console, but when you stop to look at it, the Switch is a pretty bizarre system. The Switch promises the most advanced Rumble features ever, but lags behind the PlayStation and Xbox when it comes to graphics quality. Nintendo keeps pushing it as a portable gaming device, and yet we all have mobile gaming devices in our pockets in the form of smart phones. So what gives?

Nintendo: Switch Screen Dead Pixels Are Not a Defect
If your Switch suffers from one or more dead pixels, Nintendo may not see it as a defect, but as a consumer you have rights. It's been a very long time since I purchased an electronic device with a display that had dead pixels. I thought, like I'm sure many others do, that dead pixels were a problem solved by improvements in manufacturing. However, it's 2017 and Nintendo just launched a new product that suffers from them. Worse than that, though, they aren't being classed as a defect.

Nintendo Is Doubling Production of Switch Units
Suffice to say that for those that didn't happen to snatch up a Nintendo Switch on launch day (or even a little before) it's exceedingly difficult, if not outright impossible to secure one now. As it stands, it'll probably be like this for the foreseeable near future, but it seems like the early response has spurred Nintendo on to pick up production significantly.

Nintendo Switch Sells A Half Million Units In Japan Faster Than The PS4
The Nintendo Switch is doing very well indeed in North America, breaking launch records and moving over 1.5 million units at last count. Things are going so swimmingly, Nintendo has doubled production of their new console. Not bad! But how are things going in Nintendo’s homeland of Japan? When we last checked in, the Nintendo Switch had sold over 330,000 units in its first two days on the Japanese market. That puts the Switch launch above the releases of both the Wii U and PS4, but below the original Wii. In other words, the Switch is popular across the Pacific, but it isn’t breaking records like it is here.

HAL Laboratory developed various parts of Switch
HAL Laboratory isn’t traditionally associated with working directly on Nintendo hardware. Fans are likely more aware of the company for having worked on the Kirby and Smash Bros. franchises, among many other titles. For Switch though, HAL was directly involved with the hardware’s creation. They developed the following parts of the system...

The Fall Part 2: Unbound is Confirmed for Nintendo Switch But Isn't Coming to Wii U
The Fall was an intriguing title on Wii U, overcoming some flaws thanks to its creativity and spin on sci-fi storytelling tropes. It was good news, then, when developer Over The Moon confirmed that the sequel – The Fall Part 2: Unbound – would still come to Wii U in 2017. Unfortunately that version is no longer on the way, with the title now coming to the Nintendo Switch and other platforms with a Q3 release window. There’s also a new story trailer that also provides a good look at the game.

Cave Story+ launching on Switch in June
A couple of months ago, Nicalis’ Tyrone Rodriguez shared an image of Switch’s Home Menu. It depicted the icons of a few games: The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+, 1001 Spikes, Hydra, and Cave Story. We pretty much knew that last game was happening, but now it’s been made official. Cave Story is coming to Switch as Cave Story+. Like The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+, it will have a physical release.

Nintendo talks Switch - origins / creation, going with one screen, name, online play, January event, much more
A little while back, Famitsu published an interview with Nintendo’s Shinya Takahashi and Yoshiaki Koizumi all about Switch in one of its issues. It was extremely extensive, covering the system’s origins and early development (including some involvement from Satoru Iwata). The two developers also touched on numerous other topics such as going with a single screen, choosing the name out of thousands, tying in smartphone usage to online play and making it paid, system updates, VR, and why the January event was held in Japan. Again, there is a lot here.

Teardown firm: Joy-Con controllers cost Nintendo $90 to manufacture
Last week, Japanese teardown firm Fomalhaut released their analysis on what it cost to manufacture a Switch console: $257. Now they’ve released a more detailed list of the component costs for the console, and there’s one big surprise. According to Fomalhaut, the two Joy-Con controllers cost Nintendo $90 to manufacture, which would mean that Nintendo is selling the controllers at a loss (MSRP is $79). Their reason for the high Joy-Con costs is that they include lots of small parts (20 parts per controller), and that they include lots of intricate technology.
