For $1,200, This Town Will Let You Be a Cop
The village of Oakley is a tiny speck on a map of Michigan: It has one streetlight, one grain elevator, one church and a couple of bars. If one of its 300 residents gets as much as a DUI, it’s big news around town.

Michigan Citizens Strike Back At Rick Snyder’s Corporate Wealth Transfer
Of course the mainstream media has not reported on events in Michigan, because the last thing corporate media wants is to give Americans across the country the idea that they have power to put a stop to Republicans transferring wealth to corporations and the rich at the expense of the poor, elderly, students, middle class, and infrastructure.

Dawn illuminates the South Manitou Island lighthouse in Lake Michigan, retired since 1958.
Went down to the beach early in the morning while camping in this wonderful, wild place and thought for a moment that they'd recommissioned the lighthouse. But it was just the old lens catching and throwing the beginnings of dawn's light at me (click through to the full-size image to really see it). It only lasted a couple of minutes. Almost spooky; definitely beautiful. Later that day I got a lighthouse tour from the last lighthouse keeper's great-great (I think) grandson. Island gallery below.

Dierks Bentley Literally Comes a Little Closer at WE Fest
The evening crowd certainly got close to Dierks Bentley on Day 2 at WE Fest 2015. One lucky fan danced with the Riser singer, while another enjoyed shotgunning a beer onstage with the star. Others got high fives or even had the chance to touch his arm when Bentley ran out into the audience during Come a Little Closer.

Rep. Todd Courser, Michigan lawmaker, won't resign after fabricating male prostitute story
A Michigan lawmaker said he won't resign after sending an email to Republican supporters falsely claiming he was caught having sex with a male prostitute and said in a statement released Monday he was the target of a blackmail attempt. The Detroit News, citing audio recordings, reported Friday that Rep. Todd Courser of Lapeer had someone send the email to distract attention from his alleged extramarital affair with another lawmaker.
