Remember Magic Eye? Here's a Music Video Made Using the Same Illusion
Ah, the Magic Eye. For years, it made dolphins and sharks extrude from the bedroom posters of ’90s teenagers, and now it’s bringing an entire music video to life. For their latest track, “Black Is Good,” indie band Young Rival — as well as director Jared Raab and programmer Tomasz Dysinki — decided to use random dot autostereograms to convey the images, creating an illusion of depth. If you can “decouple” your eyes correctly, that is.

The Tube of Mystery
Richard Wiseman shows us a simple trick that makes it seem like you can make objects appear out of nowhere. Like many magic tricks, the key here isn’t obscuring what you see, but playing with what you think you’re seeing.

Crazy Circle Illusion
This is a simple but a goodie. Watch as the balls rotate in a circle ..but focus on one ball at a time and notice that it follows a straight line. Also, watch at the moment when there are only four balls moving, it forms a rotating square between the four balls. This is just another example of looking deeper into something so simple and discovering a hidden pattern.

The works of Georges Rousse
Finding influence from Land Art as well as specific works like Suprametist painter Kazimir Malevich’s Black Square, Rousse pre-dates the modern trends of illusionistic installation, having perfected his trademark geometric style and his fondness for desolate locations decades ago. According to his site’s bio, Rousse considers himself a painter, sculptor, architect, and ultimately a photographer, but considers his raw material to be his great inspiration: Space.
