Artifact community slams 'pay for everything' monetisation model

Valve has addressed some (but not all) of the complaints in a blog post. The next beta update, coming today, will include the option to play Call to Arms Phantom Draft events in user-created tournaments, as well as a Casual Phantom Draft gauntlet to practice drafting without spending a ticket. Before the beta ends, Valve will also add "a system that allows extra, unwanted cards to be recycled into event tickets," so that low value cards aren't a total waste.

Sorry Fortnite, but Warframe just might be the best free-to-play game on Switch

In 2013, developer Digital Extremes released two very different games. One was Star Trek, a licensed adventure game that hit the market in time for Star Trek Into Darkness. The other was Warframe, an original IP -- the company’s first since Dark Sector -- that would end up being the company’s first attempt at a free-to-play game. Neither title set the world on fire at launch, but where Star Trek fans moved on quite quickly from the game, people playing Warframe decided to stick it out. Because this was an all-or-nothing gamble for the 20-year-old company, Digital Extremes stuck it out with them.

Nazi Imagery Law Relaxed in Germany for Video Games

Germany’s unified answer to the Holocaust has always been to acknowledge their role in it, accept responsibility and criminalize anything that could potentially stand in the way of the official narrative, or do further harm to the aggrieved peoples. The German penal code, and specifically Section 86a of the German Criminal Code, outlaws the distribution or public use of symbols of groups deemed unconstitutional, and includes flags, insignia, uniforms, slogans, and forms of greeting.

Fallout 76 Power Armor glitch turns players into naked monsters

Not only are Bethesda games notorious for being glitchy, the company warned fans that players could expect “spectacular” bugs in Fallout 76. Most players will probably encounter some low-level jank, but some unlucky vault dwellers are encountering a specific hiccup that either ruins or enhances one of Fallout’s central gameplay mechanics, depending on how you look at it. Players are reporting that using souped-up Power Armor — equipping or storing it — will sometimes result in a bizarre issue where the character’s limbs will elongate and disfigure.

How Do Indie Games Get Their Sound?

The indie game Bit.Trip Runner is a rhythm-based platformer where your jumps are timed to the beat of frantic music. Go ahead and try playing it on mute. I dare you. Too hard? Alright, try to imagine how lacking Supergiant Games’ influential indie game Bastion might have been without the hero's every step narrated by a disembodied...

Streamers quit For Honor over balance issues, Ubisoft responds

Balance issues have been a recurring problem in For Honor. Between newer Heroes reducing the viability of the original cast and certain Heroes having far more options than others, it’s an ongoing discussion. With the release of Marching Fire, this has only increased. The community has noticed the gap between older Heroes and the new expansion Heroes. In addition, older Heroes such as Lawbringer and Warlord are drawing Ubisoft ire for not receiving reworks.

    The Forest (PS4) Review

They are closing in, their numbers growing greater every day. The outlook is bleak for my survival. Therefore, the only option I have left is to just accept it and make chairs out of human bones and craft a totally vain zipline that does nothing. This has been the majority of my time with The Forest on PS4, role-playing a less dramatic version of Will Smith in I Am Legend and completely overlooking the fact that my protagonist’s son has been kidnapped — I’m sure he will be fine.

Just Cause 4: Avalanche's Smartest Approach to Stupidity Yet

Just Cause 4’s new weather systems began as a single, small idea – adding visible wind currents to the world, allowing perennial hero Rico’s parachute-wingsuit-parachute traversal to become even more useful. But, according to game director Francesco Antolini, once that was added the team then started thinking about how it could be pushed further.

'Pokémon: Let's Go!' Takes You Back to '90s Nintendo Bliss

For many of us former kids who grew up mostly indoors in the 1990s, hearing the familiar chirps, buzzes, and pika pikas! of a first-generation Pokémon game can really rattle up some memories. Like that family vacation to Niagara Falls when I missed the entirety of Earth’s greatest natural wonder because I was too busy trying to evolve my Wartortle. Or that summer when my older brother stole my copy of Pokémon Blue, took it to band camp, and returned with all my Pokémon leveled up to 100 and creatively renamed after genitals (Blastoise was simply “Penis”).

Destiny 2: Forsaken is a dramatic improvement on the base game in just about every way: It's "the second wind Destiny 2 needed," Austin said in his high-scoring review, with "expanded RPG elements and quality of life changes" that make it more compelling and less frustrating. Nonetheless, Activision said in its third quarter earning calls today that it is "not performing as well as we'd like."

The next major Overwatch update will require a full reinstall

Blizzard have announced that for the game’s next major update, players will actually have to fully reinstall Overwatch. The next big patch is expected to introduce new hero Ashe to the live servers, as she’s currently being tested on the PTR. It sounds like the next update will do more than that, however. Blizzard is apparently making “fundamental changes” so significant that they can’t simply be patched over the game but will require a full reinstall to take effect.

You don't need to turn any extra options on, they should just be click and play like any other Linux game on Steam.

Fallout 3, A Ten Year Reunion

Have you ever woken up one day and wondered where the last decade went? I haven’t, because I’m only twenty eight and that would be horrifying, but I came mighty close to that terrifying existential realization when it dawned on me that Fallout 3 released ten years ago. Believe it or not, the iconic Fallout 3 released on October 28th, 2008 and we’re all old now.
