Flat Earthers, and the rise of science denial in America
Every day in the media we see once-unthinkable science headlines. More than seven hundred cases of measles across 22 states in the U.S., largely due to vaccine deniers. Climate change legislation stalled in the U.S. Senate—due mainly to partisan politicians who routinely confuse climate and weather—even as scientists tell us that we have only until 2030 to cut worldwide carbon emissions by half, then drop them to zero by 2050. And, in one of the most incredible developments of my lifetime, the Flat Earth movement is on the rise.

Creationists Are Mocking Flat Earthers for Not Understanding Science
Talk about a complete lack of self-awareness: Creationist Ken Ham says people who think the Earth is flat are being ridiculous because they aren’t basing their beliefs in science. And if they think the Bible supports them, it’s only because they wrongly choose which verses to quote as if that tells the whole story.

Survey Finds Only 66% of Millennials Believe the Earth Is Round
More young people may be buying into the “flat Earth” conspiracy theory, and one can’t help but wonder whether celebrity flat-Eather truthers are to blame. A new study by YouGov published Monday reveals that only 66 percent of American 18 to 24-year-olds, a major chunk of the country’s millennials, firmly believe the Earth is round. The survey also shows that the younger respondents tended to be, the more likely they were to have doubts about the long-established fact of a globe-shaped Earth.
