California Democrats legalize child prostitution
Beginning on Jan. 1, prostitution by minors will be legal in California. Yes, you read that right. SB 1322 bars law enforcement from arresting sex workers who are under the age of 18 for soliciting or engaging in prostitution, or loitering with the intent to do so. So teenage girls (and boys) in California will soon be free to have sex in exchange for money without fear of arrest or prosecution.

Minnesota authorities have charged two parents with a gross misdemeanor after they failed to seek medical attention for their dying son, but instead tried to improve his condition with prayer. Timothy and Sarah Johnson were arrested last week for neglect of a child resulting in substantial physical harm. Their seven-year-old adopted son, Seth, died last March after the couple decided to treat him themselves with prayer.

Melbourne Muslim cleric charged over forced marriage of child
A Melbourne Muslim cleric and another man have been charged over the forced marriage of a child. Imam Ibrahim Omerdic, 61, is charged with conduct that caused a minor to enter into a forced marriage at Noble Park on 29 September last year. Omerdic appeared in the Melbourne magistrates court on Friday, along with Mohammad Shakir, 34, of Springvale. Shakir is charged with sexual penetration of a child under the age of 16 and being a party to a forced marriage.

An attack on the Dark Web left a whopping 20 percent of it in shambles. On Friday, a vigilante managed to hack into Dark Web hosting service, Freedom Hosting II, after realizing that it was allowing child pornography sites. As first reported by the Verge, visitors to more than 10,000 sites on Friday saw not their expected content, but rather a message that read, “Hello, Freedom Hosting II, you have been hacked.”

Paedophile who hid girl in cavity behind his fridge jailed for 27 years
The brother of a violent paedophile who was jailed for 27 years after almost five decades of sex attacks on children has claimed he told police about his offending “years ago”. Michael Dunn, described by some as the “British Josef Fritzl”, built a secret den behind his fridge to hide a 14-year-old girl he was sexually abusing. Dunn, 57, from Redcar, North Yorks, knocked through the wall behind the kitchen appliance to create a cavity called a “hidey hole”, which he used to hide the runaway girl from the police on nine separate occasions.

‘Significant’ quantities of human remains found at Tuam baby home
Human remains of a significant number of babies and infants up to three years of age have been found on the site of the former mother and baby home in Tuam, Co Galway, it has been confirmed. This follows work by the Commission on Mother and Baby Homes which carried out planned excavations there. Local research records 796 infants and children recorded as having died in the Tuam home run by the Bon Secours Sisters between 1925 and 1961. There is not as yet any indication of exactly how many bodies have been discovered at the site.

Police arrested a Florida woman Monday after a toddler allegedly fired the woman’s loaded handgun inside her parked car, shattering a window. Abbie Maldonado, 30, left the 3-year-old in the back of the vehicle outside the Good Shepherd Academy, an elementary school in Deltona, so she could pick up son, according to authorities.

A woman listed a 14-year-old as her unborn child’s father. Now, she is charged with rape.
A pregnant woman in northeastern Alabama has been charged with rape after authorities said she wrote on a Medicaid application that a 14-year-old boy was the father of her unborn baby. Police and the state department of human resources launched an investigation after 19-year-old Mekenzie Leigh Guffey, of Hollywood, Ala., identified the boy on paperwork for Social Security benefits earlier this month, Hollywood Police Chief Jason Hepler told AL.com. Workers notified the state human resources agency, which then contacted police.

Parents convicted of manslaughter in beating death of toddler
A man and woman charged in the beating death of their 2-year-old girl were found guilty of manslaughter on Wednesday, but were cleared of murder. The two defendants, Jorge Orozco and Raquel Ramirez, were charged in the February 2014 death of their daughter Dayana Orozco, who suffered six broken ribs and serve injuries to her lungs, liver and one kidney, according to evidence presented during the trial.

The Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) found that 60% of worldwide abuse material was now in Europe - an increase of 19%. The Netherlands topped the list of European nations hosting the illegal content, said the IWF.

Germany Moves To Ban Child Marriages After Finding 1500 Cases Among Refugees
The German government agreed on a proposal Wednesday to outlaw child marriages after finding more than 1,500 cases of immigrant minors having adult spouses. The Central Register of Foreign Nationals has documented a surge in child marriages in recent years. As of July 2016, 1,500 minors of non-German background were registered as married, including 361 under the age of 14.
