The Walking Dead Will Be a ‘Very, Very Different Show’ in Season 9

The war with the Saviors is dunzo, but will Rick Grimes face a civil war after his decision to spare Negan’s life in Sunday’s Walking Dead season finale? Will season nine begin with a significant time jump, as the comic book did after the end of the war with the Saviors? And how will Jadis — er, Anne — and her helicopter factor into the survivors’ ambitious rebuild in the season ahead? Vulture chatted post-finale with outgoing TWD showrunner Scott Gimple...

Where “The Walking Dead” Goes Wrong With Zombies

Rick Grimes is cornered. A walker shuffles toward him, thoughtless yet eager for flesh. Sweat drips through Grimes’ thick beard, grown in the hundreds of fearful days and nights since the dead started to roam the earth. Jeffrey Dean Morgan is shocked and stunned by The Walking Dead T-shirt controversy — shocked and stunned, that is, that anybody would find the shirt controversial in the first place. To recap: U.K. department chain Primark pulled a Walking Dead T-shirt (image below) from its stores after a customer complained the clothing item is “racist” and “offensive.” The shirt featured Negan’s signature Lucille baseball bat and his victim-selecting rhyme, “Eeny meeny miny moe, catch a tiger by the toe…” The problem? About 100 years ago, that rhyme commonly used the N-word instead of “tiger.”

Kirkman thinks The Walking Dead will run for at least another 5 seasons

AMC’s zombie hit The Walking Dead is in its seventh season and flirting with 100 episodes. So how much longer can it go? Creator Robert Kirkman, who writes the comic the show is based on and also serves as a producer, went on record saying he believes they’ll still be around five years from now — and possibly a good bit longer. In the latest issue of the comic, Kirkman mused about the longevity of the series. For Kirkman, he sees The Walking Dead going strong well into the early-to-mid 2020s.
