The man who allegedly destroyed the new Ten Commandments monument at the Arkansas Capitol was accused in 2014 of destroying a similar statue at the Oklahoma Capitol. Secretary of State’s Office spokesman Chris Powell says Capitol Police arrested Michael Reed, 32, early Wednesday. Police have not released additional details about his motives in Arkansas, but in a Facebook video, he said he was defending constitutional rights to all religions. He blamed psychotic breaks in the 2014 Oklahoma incident.

Elderly Arkansas woman shoots, kills 19-year-old who broke into home
An elderly Arkansas woman shot a home intruder Sunday morning, killing the 19-year-old man, authorities said. The ADT alarm company received a burglar alarm call at the woman's house at 3:31 a.m. Sunday, according to the Crittenden County Sheriff's Department. The alarm company made contact with the homeowner, who is in her late 80s and lives by herself. They then called officers in Marion and Crittenden County, who responded, according to WREG.

Satan worshippers turned out to cheer the unveiling of a bronze statue dedicated to a goat-headed, winged creature called Baphomet in Little Rock, Arkansas. The Satanic Temple organisation arranged the rally outside the Arkansas State Capitol building to protest a Ten Commandments monument already on the grounds. Although the striking, eight-and-a-half foot tall icon was only allowed to be on display temporarily, Satanists argued they should be allowed to erect the winged-goat effigy on a permanent basis under freedom of religion rights outlined in the US constitution.

GOP Legislator Sentenced to 220 Months in Jail for Bible School Kickback Scheme
Former Arkansas State Senator Johnathan Woods has been sentenced to 220 months in prison for a fraud scheme that involved another Republican legislator and the president of a conservative Christian college. Beginning in January of 2013, Woods and State Rep. Micah Neal gave $600,000 in taxpayer money to two non-profits in the state in exchange for bribes. One of those groups was Ecclesia College in the northwest part of the state. The small Bible school received the bulk of that money… but only because they agreed to give the politicians a healthy kickback.
