Destination Malls sounds like something destined to fail, didn't Mall of America try that in the '90s? Let alone the fact these new destinations will want the tons of money and subsidies that the original malls got and we can see them falling apart as it stands now.
Existing malls that sit empty seem like a good opportunity to make affordable housing, they are large, empty and already set up with plumbing and electric. We have one that is mostly a food court and grocery store now, keep those things and put in housing around it. Something other than letting them sit empty and building a new one down the street is ideal to me.
I think over the parking lots should be built solar farms.
