How to Motivate Yourself to Exercise

Motivate Yourself to Exercise

  • Motivate Yourself to Exercise

Not happy with how your body looks right now? Put on a few extra kilos during the holidays? The good news is that you have the power to lose weight and attain your body goals. The bad news is that you can’t do it without exercise.

It’s no wonder that the diet and fat-burner pills industry is still thriving, when there’s a lot of us who want an ‘easy’ way to lose weight. The hard truth is that you’re not going to get where you need to be without exercise. So instead of trying to avoid it, let’s look at a few ways you can motivate yourself to exercise:

    Keep Your Goals Simple

Big goals are why people abandon their weight-loss resolutions halfway. For instance, if your target is to lose 20 kilos in two months and you only lose 5, then you’re bound to get disappointed or frustration. Your brain doesn’t get a chance to experience feelings and satisfaction, ultimately leading to demotivate. The smarter thing to do is set simple, more manageable goals. Once you successfully hit your target a few times, you’ll be way more motivated to keep at it.

    Listen to Some Music

For some people it’s not the strain on their muscles that deters them from a workout but the tediousness. A good way to deal with this is to listen to some music. Of course, wired headphones can get in the way when you’re using a machine. Therefore, we highly recommend a nice pair of wireless sport headphones. Be careful to only include upbeat songs in your workout playlist and choose songs that keep a similar pace.

    Exercise with A Friend

A workout can get pretty boring if you’re consistently doing it alone. You can prevent this by asking a close friend to join you. This way you can strike up a conversation while you exercise and even support each other during the more difficult workouts. The competition can help you up the intensity as well. When choosing a workout friend there are a couple of things you must consider. First your workout schedules need to align. Secondly, it has to be someone that you have a strong relationship with. Otherwise you’re not going to have much to talk about and it might just end up being awkward.

    Have A Manageable Schedule

If you work sixty hours a week then it’s probably not a good idea to hit the gym every day. Not only will your body suffer but you may risk mental health issues as well. Therefore, it’s in your best interest to speak with a qualified trainer and work out a manageable schedule. You could also make things easier for you by working out at home. You don’t even need to buy inexpensive machines if you’re mainly focused on cardio.

Make an Effort to Change Your Mindset

The bottom line is that working out is crucial if you want to lose weight. The sooner you accept that, the sooner you’ll be able to withstand the rigors of exercise. Not all of these methods will work for everyone but we still recommend that you give each a chance. Once you find a motivational method that works for you, keep sticking to it until the need to exercise is hammered into your brain.
