The best I was able to do is hold my breath for 2 minutes and 52 seconds while we were buzzed and figured this would be a fun way use the indoor swimming pool at the place we were staying at. The spasms did indeed start at about 2 min, and it was annoyingly painful to experience, the automatic reflex to just start breathing is overwhelming and it was extremely hard to hold your breath through until finally at 2:52 I just couldn't do it anymore. Im sure with some practice I can reach the 3 minute mark. 23 minutes however is insanity.
Oh, and one more thing... I had to shake my right arm a little every 30 seconds when I was tapped on my back, this let everyone know I was still conscious, so yea we did think about safety even when what we were doing was kind of dumb!
