Sometimes websites won't give out prices unless you put it in a cart. Often you can't find out delivery fees without checking out a product. Not a big deal really.
Tried to read the article, but it's behind a paywall. I figure it's likely a bot coded to check if possibly leaving stuff in the cart will trigger some sort of deal, coupon, email based discount. Not the most effective way to code up a bot, but I guess if you're just a one man army trying to run a little savings widget or something, it would make sense.
