From the article: "According to the Environmental Protection Agency, the United States generated 32 million tons of plastic waste in 2012" That's one country*, one year, and only one element of waste, plastic. This should cause us pause.
The earth is finite in size, we are running out of places to hide our waste.
Food is bio-degradable therefore so should the containers it comes in, regardless where and how you purchase it. It's 2014, time to start being more serious about our short and long term environmental impact. Reduce, reuse, recycle, our grandchildren deserve no less.
