The sugar industry would not be where it is today if it were not for cane sugar and corn sugar subsidies. I try to avoid sugar in general, partly for health reasons, but actually mainly for economic reasons. Why should my $ be propping up an industry that is worsening dental health? Seriously? I don't care if the price of sugar skyrockets - I can still make roast chicken, mashed potatoes and peas without any of the sugar industry.
